The initiative for a Convention Bureau in Luleå region came from the business members of Visit Luleå Economic Association, and today Luleå Convention Bureau is run as a project within Visit Luleå. The project began on 1 July 2006 and is planned to run until 31 December 2009.

The goal is for Luleå Convention Bureau to continue after 2009. 

Luleå Convention Bureau is made up of the following groups: partners, a reference group, steering group, financiers and project leaders /project coordinators
